ABOUT

Emily_Headshot_June2019-2_edited.jpg

I am a passionate education advocate looking to help reinvent the classroom with practices that consider the whole child. I spent five years as an early elementary teacher focusing on my student's social-emotional well-being and constantly innovated my teaching practice to create a love of learning for my students. Looking to challenge my teaching pedagogy, I earned my Masters in Teaching and Curriculum with a certification in Technology.

Wanting to deeply understand the education system, I joined an EdTech startup in Australia focused on personalized learning. While there, I increased customer retention 19% by identifying customer needs and creating personalized professional development through gap analysis, using support tickets and teacher focus group data to drive better performance for districts.

Continuing on my quest to innovate education, I became the first employee at a Y-Combinator backed startup in San Francisco. AskMyClass is a classroom helper on Alexa that saves teachers time and engages students screen-free.  I currently lead projects across product development, marketing & sales, content creation, and partnerships to support company growth.
